River of Life: Connecticut River Pilgrimage

July 12-15, 2018

Thank you for your interest in our 3-day Connecticut River 2018 Pilgrimage!  Applications will be considered on a rolling basis -- the deadline for applying is Friday, June 29.  Acceptances will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis to those who qualify.

If you have questions about the pilgrimage or application, please reach out to Jo at

The River of Life Pilgrimage is different from an ordinary recreational paddle. The following questions are intended to help you think about your time as a pilgrim on the Connecticut River. Please answer with 1 to 5 sentences, as you think appropriate for the question.
If you're interested in canoeing in one of the 2 available seats in our guides' canoes, please indicate "Canoe" and then state that in the space set aside in the next question.
Please provide a basic description of the canoe/kayak you will be bringing and include the length of your vessel. If you're interested in one of the 2 available canoe seats in our guides' canoes, please indicate that here.
Please complete the below medical information portion of the application fully and with your most current mental and physical health in mind. Your personal information will be held in confidence.
Selected participants will be asked to join us the afternoon of their first paddling day so as to become a member of the Pilgrimage community. In order to ensure a safe and memorable experience for everyone involved, we will have an informational meeting with all participants that afternoon before getting on the river.
All participants are required to line up their own transportation to/from the river; however, we will put pilgrims in touch with each other who are interested in coordinating vehicle staging/shuttling.
All participants are required to provide their own equipment as follows: - Canoe or kayak and paddles - Approved PFD - Camping equipment or necessary overnight sleeping gear for staying at rustic campsites (more detailed equipment list forthcoming for those selected as paddlers).
The Pilgrimage coordinators will provide the following as part of your registration fee: - Professional outdoor & spiritual guides, 24-hours per day - Food + potable water - Group cooking gear - River of Life Prayer Book - River of Life hat - Basic medical kit (not including anti-anaphylaxis injectors) - Means of communication in case of emergencies
We are requesting that paddling pilgrims limit their technology use for the duration of their time with the River of Life Pilgrimage. The intention is to facilitate deeper connections with God, with oneself, with other pilgrims, and with the natural world. In the case of an emergency, you will be able to be contacted via our guides.
Please let us know how you found out about the Connecticut River 2018 River of Life Pilgrimage!
